I’ve only used this once, to make plain vanilla ice cream (following the recipe in the manual), and the ice cream was excellent. Like other machines out there, it is a bit deceiving to think you can have fresh ice cream made in 30 minutes; the reality is the inside container must be frozen for hours before-hand, and many recipes require that the mix be refrigerated for several hours before being made. It is also a fairly loud machine while in use, so I won’t be using it when my children are sleeping. The end result, however, is very good.

    Pros:
Excellent appearance, one of the few appliances I have out on my counter, get compliments/questions frequently.
Works well (makes a great cinnamon chocolate ice cream!)
    Great warranty
    Very durable ice bowl

    Cons:
Even with a solid freeze of the bowl you’ll need to put the ice cream in the freezer for an hour or two afterwards. Just too soft for more than a little taste.
Slightly cheap inner ice cream mixer apparatus (plastic on plastic gears/blades)
Any heavy mixings added towards end still fall to bottom due to soft consistency and poor stirring

Will give details on what I think of it after I actually use it :)

I bought one of these for myself about a year ago then decided to buy this one from Amazon.com for my Mom for Christmas. I keep the freezer bowl in the freezer all the time just in case I want to make some at the last minute. I find that it only takes about 20 mins to have the ice cream frozen and ready. Of course, you do have to follow the instructions which say to chill the mixture in the fridge for a while. If you don’t, then it may take longer and not set up as hard. I usually make it ahead of dinner then when it’s finished I put it into a container and put it in the freezer to serve for dessert. It does make some noise but not excessively. Still don’t want to hear it while eating dinner. It’s pretty easy to use and pretty easy to clean up afterwards. Love it. Ice cream is as good as the recipe you use and as good as any other home made ice cream I’ve ever had.

This is a great, simple product for making delicious ice cream and frozen yogurt! It’s a blast to create your own flavors and recipes and reap the rewards.

    Two major points of emphasis:

    1) You must freeze the empty bucket for at least several hours (overnight is best) before you make anything.

    2) You must freeze the products in a separate container (not included) for at least 4-6 hours or overnight before it is the right consistency.

So while it only takes 20-30 minutes to run, it actually requires a couple days planning to have the desserts when you want them. This is just the reality of making frozen desserts and not a flaw in the product.

OVERALL: Highly recommended as a gift for dessert lovers
ALSO: The booklet that comes with actually has a great set of handy recipes you can use as a base to make almost anything you can dream up.

This is my first frozen dessert maker of any kind.

I agree with the rest of the 1 star reviews. The machine will run for the designated time (sometimes 30 minutes +) and at the end you just have very cold sweet creamy soup! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

The icecream maker is great. Easy to use and comes with a load of very nice recipes. Great for people who need to restrict their sugar or arfical product intake. You make icecream just the way you like it. Shipping fast and right on time.

The Cuisinart ICE-40 icemaker is GREAT! I’ve made three batches of ice cream so far, and every one has turned out perfect. I control how hard the ice cream gets because I can look down into the container as it is turning, and can tell when it’s getting to a good consistency. I’ve even played with the recipes a little by using whole milk instead of heavy whipping cream in the vanilla, and it works just as well! I don’t miss the rock-salt-and-ice mess I always got from my old electric ice cream maker.

I love this machine! It’s perfect because of the flexibility; if I want a lot of one flavor I can use both bowls for the same kind or I can easily make two different kinds. Since I don’t do dairy products this has saved me so much money and hassle in avoiding the dreaded $6+ a pint non-dairy ice creams.

My only complaint about this ice cream maker is not having gotten it sooner!

I was a little skeptical when this came home because we have used the salt style machines with not great success. With in 20 minutes we had some tasty strawberry and mint chocolate chip ice cream. It’s great you can make 2 different flavors at once. We cut the recommended sugar in half to make it even healthier, and the recipe was still great! Simple, easy to find ingredients makes this easy for anybody. Also tweaking the receipes a little to your individual taste has been fun too. When it was finished it wasn’t liquid like at all, but a nice consistency. This is an amazing product and I highly recommend it. Kids love helping, and clean up is super easy. Cant wait to try some summer time drinks.

Freezes fast, quiet operation, a good product.I am glad we bought the dual container one instead of the single chamber.

I was gravely disappointed with this ice cream maker. After the product is made (ice cream or yogurt) you best eat the mix right away. If not, when you place the mix into the freeze for storage to eat at a later date it will turn into a piece of ice block and nothing relating to ice cream or frozen yogurt. I will not waste my time with this product.

This machine works really well. We have been very careful to have the freezing tub fully frozen and ingredients cold before making ice cream. the ice cream finishes more like soft serve than traditional ice cream so plan on making it 3-4 hours prior to eating if you like the ice cream to be firmer. Sorbets turn out great too. I would give it 5 stars if ice cream came out firmer but overall you will be pleased if you take care to get tub fully frozen and ingredients cold before starting the process.

An excellent machine. It’s very simple to operate and very easy to clean. I’ve been using it for about a month, and I’ve made various sorbets with it. It’s great for dinner parties; the smiles on guest’s faces when they eat freshly made sorbet establish you as the “host with the most”. If you like ice cream and sorbet, and always wanted to make your own, this is the machine to get.

I have milk allergies and was sure I would never taste ice cream again, but I made a coconut milk based sorbet that was better than any I’ve ever bought, when I could even find one.
Easy to use, easy to clean, great results, but so noisy I had to put earplugs in.
There is nothing about the noise that “fades away”. It’s up front and annoying.
I like everything else about it, so I have to decide to either keep it, or put it on the porch and let the neighbors suffer, when I use it.

Looked at the mixed reviews, but the price was right so I gave it a try. Followed instructions for basic vanilla. AWESOME! It’s very easy to create the mixes for freezing in the unit. Can eat it right after the mix/freeze process, or place in freezer for a couple of hours after using the unit to “ripen”. This gives a more familiar frozen dessert product texture that you would get at the store. I’m sold on it. Makes just the right amount, easy cleanup and DELICIOUS!

This is an excellent product that is incredibly easy to use. Ice cream is ready in 30 minutes TOPS. I bought it to make ice cream for my son who has a milk allergy, so I use almond milk or soy milk and it works great! Highly recommended.

What an excellent purchase. I didn’t know these types of ice cream makers existed until a friend of mine recommended it. It was well worth the money. I’ll probably not buy ice cream from a market again.
