This Cuisinart ice cream maker sounded too good to be true. Unfortunately, even though I followed the directions precisely, what I got was not ice cream…not even close. It never thickened. It tasted good (we drank it), but it was not what I wanted. I would like to know if I did something wrong, but as I said, I followed directions.

This machine works really well. We have been very careful to have the freezing tub fully frozen and ingredients cold before making ice cream. the ice cream finishes more like soft serve than traditional ice cream so plan on making it 3-4 hours prior to eating if you like the ice cream to be firmer. Sorbets turn out great too. I would give it 5 stars if ice cream came out firmer but overall you will be pleased if you take care to get tub fully frozen and ingredients cold before starting the process.

An excellent machine. It’s very simple to operate and very easy to clean. I’ve been using it for about a month, and I’ve made various sorbets with it. It’s great for dinner parties; the smiles on guest’s faces when they eat freshly made sorbet establish you as the “host with the most”. If you like ice cream and sorbet, and always wanted to make your own, this is the machine to get.

I was gravely disappointed with this ice cream maker. After the product is made (ice cream or yogurt) you best eat the mix right away. If not, when you place the mix into the freeze for storage to eat at a later date it will turn into a piece of ice block and nothing relating to ice cream or frozen yogurt. I will not waste my time with this product.

I have milk allergies and was sure I would never taste ice cream again, but I made a coconut milk based sorbet that was better than any I’ve ever bought, when I could even find one.
Easy to use, easy to clean, great results, but so noisy I had to put earplugs in.
There is nothing about the noise that “fades away”. It’s up front and annoying.
I like everything else about it, so I have to decide to either keep it, or put it on the porch and let the neighbors suffer, when I use it.

Bought this to go along with a red Cuisinart ice cream maker. Not a perfect match but looks good. Great ice cream scoop.

It’s a nice scoop, but after a few months the finish pitted (we ran it through the dishwasher). It would be fine if handwashed.

I’ve tried many many ice cream scoops, but none have compared to this Cuisinart! It fits in your hand perfectly and scoops with ease. Others are hard to hold (handles are too big) or do not scoop well. It has held up well after years of use and many trips in the dishwasher – still looks and works like new. Just bought a 2nd one as a gift for my mom.

Nice feel in the hand, efficient, effective, and 100% dish-washer safe. Weird to rave about an ice cream scoop, but this is the one to get.

I purchased my Cuisinart 1-1/2-Quart Additional Freezer Bowl, fits ICE-20 Ice Cream Maker February 6, 2002 from Amazon for $29.99 and it still works great! I noticed the price has come down. Can’t say that about many things…

It works great if you don’t wash it with hot, hot water after use… otherwise it loses its ability to chill again…. enjoy.

It is a great little machine. Lot more handy and a lot more mess without the ice or salt.

We love this ice cream maker. It is so easy. It’s not too noisy and it is easy to clean. I have only made two batches so far but they came out great. It makes about a quart which is perfect for our family of four. We each get about a cup so you won’t sit there and eat the whole carton by yourself! You will need a container to store ice cream in. When it first comes out, it is like thick soft serve. If you want it more solid, you need to transfer it to the freezer but you can’t use the maker to do that. I bought the Ben & Jerry recipe book, too and I am looking forward to trying their recipes out.

The best ice cream scoop I’ve ever used.

This is my second Cuisinart item purchase and I’m NOT disappointed.

No, seriously, when I want ice cream, the last thing I want is some crappy spoon or chintzy and totally ineffective plastic scoop standing between me and my bliss. This scoop is pretty awesome. Scoops ice cream like room temperature butter. It feels nice and solid in hand and is nicely balanced without being ridiculously heavy, easy to clean- no moving parts, not flimsy or crappy in any way. I’d get two, at least, one for each hand.

As simple as this device is, it does it’s job very well. The pointed end makes easy work of scooping even the hardest ice cream. The handle provides good leverage, and the ergonomic shape is very comfortable. Not all ice cream scoops are the same, and this one is a cut above the rest. Great price too!

  16. Kiefer on July 4th, 2010 12:23 am

This is the best ice cream scoop I’ve ever used. It cuts through even hard ice cream like a hot knife through butter, and the handle is extremely comfortable – thick and substantial so it can cut through the ice cream without a hint of bending, but contoured to fit the hand.
